Why Garages Become Overwhelming
It happens gradually. A few boxes go in after the last move. The holiday decorations pile up. A lawn mower that quit working three summers ago gets shoved to the corner. Tools from a renovation that never quite finished take up wall space. Before long, the garage that was supposed to hold a car holds everything except the car.
For homeowners across Cleveland, Mentor, Willoughby, and the rest of Lake County, the garage has a way of becoming the house's catch-all room. Ohio winters mean outdoor furniture, snowblowers, sleds, and salt bags cycle in and out every year — and items that no longer work or fit your life tend to linger. Add in a few decades of accumulated sporting equipment, holiday items, and miscellaneous "I'll deal with it later" boxes, and even a two-car garage fills up fast.
The good news: a professional garage cleanout typically takes just a few hours, and the result is immediate and dramatic. Our team shows up with a truck, a system, and zero judgment about what's in there.
What We Remove from Garages
Our garage cleanout service covers virtually everything that shouldn't be taking up space. Here's what we haul away regularly:
What We Cannot Take
A few items require special handling that falls outside standard junk removal. We cannot haul liquid chemicals, motor oil, gasoline, pesticides, herbicides, or propane tanks. These are considered hazardous waste and must be taken to a designated Lake County hazardous waste facility. If you're unsure whether something qualifies, just ask — we'd rather clarify upfront than leave you with unexpected items on cleanout day.
We also cannot take asbestos-containing materials. If your garage has old floor tiles, pipe insulation, or ceiling materials installed before 1980, have them tested before scheduling a cleanout.
How the Garage Cleanout Process Works
Book & Walk-Through
Call or text us, describe your garage situation, and we'll give you a firm quote before we start. No surprises on the day of service.
We Do the Heavy Lifting
Our crew arrives on time, assesses the space, and begins loading. You don't need to carry a single box — we handle everything, including items on high shelves.
Sweep & Done
Once the truck is loaded, we do a quick sweep of the space. You're left with a clean, empty garage and a final invoice that matches the quote.
Donations vs. Disposal — How We Sort
Not everything that leaves your garage needs to go to the landfill. Before every cleanout, we make a point to identify items that are still in usable condition — functional tools, sports gear, furniture pieces, and appliances — and route those to local donation centers and thrift organizations in the Greater Cleveland area when possible. This isn't just good for the environment; it's good for the community. Items that can't be donated go to proper disposal or recycling facilities.
We'll always let you know upfront if we see items worth setting aside for donation, but the final call is yours. Some clients prefer a complete clear-out without exceptions, and that's perfectly fine too.
How We Quote a Garage Cleanout
Every garage is different — a lightly cluttered one-car garage takes very different resources than a two-car garage packed floor-to-ceiling with 20 years of accumulated junk. We quote based on what we actually see: the amount of material, how difficult it is to access, and whether there are any heavy or specialty items involved.
We provide a free, no-obligation quote before any work begins. Text us a few photos to get a rough idea before we drive out, or call and describe the situation. Call (440) 655-0884 or text (440) 655-0884 to get started.
Tips for Preparing for Your Garage Cleanout
You don't need to do much to prepare — that's the point of hiring a professional service. But a few small steps can make the process go faster and save you money:
- Set aside keepers early. Walk through the garage a day before and move anything you definitely want to keep to one corner or mark it with tape. This prevents any confusion on cleanout day.
- Drain gasoline from equipment. Lawn mowers, generators, and similar items should be emptied of fuel before we arrive. We can still take the equipment; we just can't transport it with fuel inside.
- Note any known hazardous materials. If there are chemicals, paint cans, or unknown liquids, flag those for us in advance so we can advise on the right disposal method.
- Unlock the garage door. Seems obvious, but make sure the door operates and we have clear access from the driveway. If there's a locking cabinet or shed that also needs to be emptied, have a key ready.
We serve garage cleanout customers throughout Mentor, Willoughby, Eastlake, Euclid, Wickliffe, Willowick, Painesville, and across Greater Cleveland.
